SOLBERG
+ ASSOCIATES roots go back to 1984 when Rick Solberg partnered with
Doug Lowe in establishing Solberg + Lowe Architects in Santa Monica
, California. It was during this time, guided by the influences of entertainment
clients like Universal Studios, Six Flags, Paramount Parks and Walt
Disney Imagineering that the firm's design philosophy integrated the
story telling techniques common to these media giants into its delivery
of architecture.
Building
their firm's portfolio to include corporate, hospitality, and retail
in addition to its entertainment projects , S+L merged in 1994 with
Cuningham Hamilton and Quiter of Minneapolis, a major Midwest firm specializing
in education and casino design. Rick Solberg and Doug Lowe became founding
partners in Cuningham Group / Solberg + Lowe and ultimately Cuningham
Group.
Today SOLBERG + ASSOCIATES has been established to further pursue
the integration of story telling techniques into all aspects of architecture
and to capitalize on the creative talents that exist in the broader
workforce outside the traditional design and construct arena.
The " + " celebrates the added value that is delivered in
a collaborative creative effort. It's not about one person, one office,
one profession but the synergistic orchestration of a myriad of creators
from diverse industries in the pursuit of a common vision.
